We at PAPER & LACE are tremendously honored to share in the magic of our clients’ weddings – from the invites and the place cards, to the dinner menus and all of the small details in between. But what’s even better than putting together custom stationary for one of our bride’s is watching her Big Day beautifully unfold. The day is often so perfect that we love sharing the stories and wedding photos of our beautiful clients with you! That’s exactly the case when it comes to this couple…..
Jessica and Simon knew their wedding guests might walk into the ceremony expecting excellence. After all, Jessica is an event planner and Simon a chef; so their wedding, much like their relationship, came with the natural anticipation of being a recipe for perfection!
That’s how it’s been for the two since meeting in 2010, when Simon was serving as Chef for the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach and Jessica an intern for their Convention Services Department. “I plucked up the courage to ask her for drinks,” remembered Simon. “Of course she said yes,” he added, wittily, “and we finally met up outside of work. We had so much fun together and we loved spending time together. We continued hanging out and seeing each other and we haven’t stopped laughing and smiling together ever since.”
He added, “For Fontainebleau [it was] a Human Resources nightmare. But for me, a dream come true, as [I realized] I get to spend the rest of my life with this attractive blonde intern, who still to this day makes me smile…makes me happy… and makes my heart beat.”
The couple got engaged in the middle of the Shakespeare’s Garden section of Central Park – a meaningful location in that it tied back to Simon’s British (and romantic!) roots. And, so, the wedding planning began. What Jessica knew she didn’t want when it came to the wedding, though, was to stress over all of the ‘what ifs.’“
As an event planner, you know it’s normal to have surprises and for some things to not go according to plan,” she told us. “I wanted to mentally prepare so that, should anything have happened, I wouldn’t freak out.” She prepared for rainy weather and potential kitchen disasters. But in the end, what she got was a fairytale wedding set in beautiful Marco Island.
So what’s the secret ingredient to Wedding Day bliss? “We decided that we wanted to keep things as normal as possible leading up to the ceremony… so we did exactly that,” Jessica said. “We stayed together the night before and got ready together the day of the wedding. Being around each other during the whole process put us both at ease and didn’t build up any nerves. I would highly recommend this for the non-traditional bride."
On a sunny Saturday in December, Jessica met Simon under a rustic trellis of white, twinkling lights, and lush greens to say “I do” on the grounds of the JW Marriott Marco Island. K&K Photography and Sendery Video Productions beautifully captured all of the dreamy details of the day (planned by Apple Event Productions); from the hair and makeup preparations by Glambox Artistry and the couple’s first kiss, to Jessica’s beautiful mermaid gown by Essence of Australia and fresh blooms by Dalsimer Atlas. Surrounded by friends and family, the moment was perfect in every way possible.
Continuing the celebration, the couple treated their guests to a magical night filled with love, dancing, and, of course, the best of the best food and fun (after all, with a chef for a groom, you could only indulge in the finest)! “Being that Simon is British and I am American, he created two Menus: ‘The British Empire’ and ‘The Land of the Free.’” The international menu consisted of stations of Fish and Chips, Chicken Tikka Masala, Prime Rib, Chicken and Waffles, and tastes of Little Italy and China Town. Delish!
“Our wedding was like a fairy tale and perfect in every way. I am so thankful to everyone involved in making it so special,” Jessica gushed.
PAPER & LACE is honored that this beautiful couple chose us to create the lace pocket invitations and tons more shimmering gold stationary (escort cards, custom menus, and table cards) for their wedding day. Thank you to Jessica and Simon for sharing beautiful wedding photos with us. We wish you eternal love and happiness and a lifetime of happy ever after!
